Donald W. Layden, Jr.
Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer
Don Layden joined USAT’s Board of Directors in April of 2019, and was appointed Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer in October of 2019. Mr. Layden has spent the past 25 years managing, investing in and advising high growth financial technology and payments businesses both domestically and globally. Since 2011, he has served as a Venture Partner of Baird Capital Partners, where he focuses on investments in technology and technology-enabled businesses with an emphasis on financial technology and business process outsourcing. Previously, Mr. Layden was an executive officer of Metavante Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:MV), including serving as President of Metavante International and Senior Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy, Corporate Secretary and General Counsel. He has also been an Adviser to Warburg Pincus, CEO of NuEdge Solutions, President of the Fiserv Lending Systems division, President and CEO of the Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company and a Partner in Quarles & Brady LLP.
Mr. Layden also serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations in leadership roles. He is the Chair of the board of Alverno College and is the Chair of the Board of Trustees, and past President, of the Milwaukee Art Museum. He is also the Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee of the Consuelo Foundation, and currently serves on the executive committees of United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties, City Forward Collective and Ascension Healthcare Wisconsin. Previously, he chaired the boards of Employ Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board; Three Harbors Council, Boy Scouts of America; Schools That Can Milwaukee; and Families International, the parent of the Alliance for Children and Families.
Mr. Layden has been a director on the boards of two public companies. For 15 years he was a director of Firstsource Solutions (FSL:NSE) and for two years a director of Online Resource Corporation (ORCC:NASDAQ), where he chaired the Special Committee which recommended the sale to ACI Worldwide (ACIW:NASDAQ). He is also a director of several private companies, including TxVia (until its sale to Google), SafetyPay, AutoBooks, MicroNotes and MedXoom. Mr. Layden holds a JD with honors and a BA in Economics and Political Science from Marquette University.
Interim Chief Financial Officer
Glen Goold joined USA Technologies as a consultant in October 2018 and was appointed the company’s Interim Chief Financial Officer in January 2019, where he is responsible for the company’s financial and accounting operations. Mr. Goold is an accomplished financial executive with a robust background of leading financial operations of successful organizations. Prior to joining USA Technologies, Mr. Goold served in progressive roles for Sutron Corporation (“Sutron”) from 2012 through 2018. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Site Leader of Sutron from 2014 until 2018 where he was responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, human resources, investor relations and regulatory compliance functions of the organization. Prior to Sutron, Mr. Goold was an Associate Vice President of Fund Management at The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm, from 2005 - 2012.
In serving his community, Mr. Goold has held many roles with the Boy Scouts of America, most recently as an Assistant District Commissioner of the Powhattan District of the National Capital Area Council. He has also served in many ecclesiastical roles in his church leading youth organizations and congregations. Mr. Goold graduated with a Bachelors and Masters of Accountancy degree from Brigham Young University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Chief Compliance Officer
Jim Pollock joined USA Technologies as Chief Compliance Officer in April 2019 and leads the company’s compliance function with a focus on regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, in addition to providing governance over the code of ethics and whistleblower hotline. Mr. Pollock regularly collaborates with the business on various initiatives and reports directly to the company’s independent Board of Directors. Prior to joining, Mr. Pollock had served as a director within the internal audit and risk assurance practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (“PwC”), leading large and complex global engagements for clients across many industries. He started his career as a financial analyst with AT&T where he supported the corporate-level consolidation of financial results.
Mr. Pollock is a long-standing volunteer at a local youth athletics association in Philadelphia and currently serves as an independent board member for that organization. Mr. Pollock is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated with a BA in Accounting from Temple University.
Chief Operating Officer
Matt McConnell joined USA Technologies in May 2019 and is responsible for all operational aspects of the company, including product management, engineering, sales, business development, network operations, fulfillment and field deployment, customer success and business affairs. Mr. McConnell is an accomplished entrepreneur, community leader and Fortune 50 senior corporate executive with over 30 years of experience driving profitable revenue growth through the commercialization of technology. He has a demonstrated track record of building high-performing global organizations, identifying and launching new products and services, effectively managing and growing a P&L, raising seed capital, and executing a successful exit of a business through an acquisition by a Fortune 500 public corporation. Prior to joining USA Technologies, Mr. McConnell was a Senior Vice President at Comcast, the co-founder and CEO of Troppus Software Corporation (acquired by Echostar in 2011) and held various senior leadership roles at Level 3 Communications, AOL and PwC.
Mr. McConnell currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver, teaching graduate level courses in the area of technology strategy, ethics and leadership, along with serving as Vice-Chairman of Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain and serving as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors for two private technology companies. Mr. McConnell received his undergraduate degree in Finance and Information Systems from Boston College and an MBA from University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
Maeve McKenna Duska
Chief Marketing Officer
Maeve McKenna Duska first joined USAT in March of 1999 where she was at the forefront of introducing cashless payments to the vending industry. During her tenure with USAT, she has served in various leadership positions, overseeing strategic marketing as well as the regional and national sales teams and partnership development initiatives. Today, Ms. Duska serves as the Chief Marketing Officer where she oversees the development and execution of marketing strategy and programs, strategic partnership activities and external communications programs focused on expanding and building the company’s leadership mantel in existing and new markets. Outside of her experience at USAT, Ms. Duska has led marketing programs for Aramark and held marketing positions at various financial service and technology companies including at Lockwood Financial (now owned by Pershing) and Vertical Net, as well as serving as a strategic marketing consultant specializing in higher education, finance and technology markets. She is a contributor to Forbes and a frequent presenter at industry conferences, including the Consumer Electronics Show, Money 20/20 and the National Automatic Merchandising Association.
Ms. Duska serves on the Forbes Communications Council, and volunteers in her local community at the Wolf Performing Arts Center and as an Odyssey of the Mind Coach. Ms. Duska graduated with a BA from Rosemont College.
